Pinup portrait at Yankee Air Museum
This month, I had the opportunity of participated on a meetup of the Flickr group: Strobist A2/DT, in which I have been member for more that two years. It was in the Yankee Air Museum at Grosse Ile Airfield, MI. We had access to few airplanes to make portrait in the interior of some of them or exterior of almost all. It was a small group of photographers and models. Because restrictions in the number of people that could have access to the hangar, and for the cool – windy day.
I shoot only with few models, Connie Nieves was one of them (MM# 177990). Connie is a model specialized in pinup and vintage photography, with a great wardrobe. Here are two pictures of her from that day.

These two pictures where done using 50 mm f1.8 canon lens and a medium soft box. All post-process was done in Lightroom 3 only.
Special thanks to Alex Minkin, great photographer and friend. Who is the founder and administrator of the flickr group: Strobist A2/DT; for organizing this event and for let me used some of his equipment.
Senior Portrait in studio II
This is the second part of a Senior Portrait session that I did last year, with multiple girls from High School in the Detroit area. Here is the link for the first part.
Again, in this post I am showing other 3 of those girls. They were not models, at lease on that day of that photo session.
Thanks to:
- Bianca Robinson – Makeup
- Leonor F – My assistant
- Fantasy On Film – Studio space
- All girls (models)

Senior Portrait in studio I
I had the opportunity of work with many High School Senior Students in the Detroit area; in collaboration with Bianca Robinson (MM#1554129) as makeup artist; currently she lives in Chicago, IL.
I did their Senior Portrait in two days. This session was done totally in Studio; we used different backgrounds for every girl. All picture where done in fashion style. And I used two lens (50 mm 1.8; and 70-200 mm f4L) and one canon camera for the whole session. And this was my first solo big photo shoot outside of Ann Arbor, MI.
In this post I am showing 3 of those girls. None of them had experience as model on the day of that photo session. However all did very well. In that same session we did pictures to more experienced models too (not senior students); examples of them were post last year.

Portrait at Sunflowers Field II
This was other photo-session in a beautiful sunflowers field, this summer at Domino’s farm, Ann Arbor, MI. The other session was posted few weeks ago. In this session the model was LaPorscha. She is a model who I have had a photo-session in Detroit.

This session was at middle morning. It was overcast; but for some moments the sun was too bright. So, this session was done using natural light as main light; and for filling a strobe through umbrella and a reflector (5 in 1). For this picture (above) gold surface was used; and white for the following pictures. As usual I received great assistance holding the reflector from Leonor. Also it was windy, and I forgot to bring sand bags; more than onetime my stand light with the umbrella went to the ground.

All post-process of these pictures was done in Lightroom. In many cases I like to do a good variety of treatments; like vintage in the previous one.
One picture of this session was post in my flick account, and it had very good acceptation.
Thanks to my beautiful model and FB friend La Porscha, for her time and very good work. And to Leonor for all her assistance.
Portrait at Sunflowers Field I
For me it not very common having a photo-session outdoors. Especially in a beautiful sunflowers field. This summer, I had the fortune of finding it very close to home; at Domino’s Farm. And I could contact two model to make some pictures over there.
One of models was Halina, she is not officially a model. She is a good friend of me. And she got excited after I told her about it. We started shooting around 8 in the morning. With nice clean sky; very fast the light was getting strong but we manage to get some good pictures; like this.

We used only available natural light; only some filling light was added using a reflector (5 in 1). For this fist picture gold surface was used. I received great assistance holding the reflector from my Leonor (my wife).
Also we used a white surface of the reflector like in the following pictures. This second picture has had a very good acceptation in the Flickr community; getting into the top 200 interestingness.

Other pictures from the same session are:

Thanks to my beautiful friend Halina, for her time and very good work as model. And to Leonor for all her assistance.
Close up
I had the opportunity of work with some model and with a makeup artist of Detroit, MI area.
Bianca Robinson (MM#1554129) is a great young makeup artist. She is very hard worker. In a collaboration, she did the make up for some model and I did the photography.
Having a good makeup on the models makes all the work a lot easier on and after (post-process) the session.
Here I show some close ups from that session.
Taylor – Blue

Kristie – Blue
Stephanie - Silver
Amanda – Black
All this close ups were done using a canon 70-200 mm lens f4 L, one of my favorites lens for portrait.
On this photo-session my assistant was Leonor F, my wife. Thanks
Winter in studio
Around middle of December, I had the opportunity of work with two models, Jamie T and Kristin P from Lansing and Grand Blanc, MI respectively.
One of the looks that we tried was related to Winter; we had fun, because the outfit was not really for winter as you could see on the following pictures. All were done using a 50 mm lens only.
Portrait of Kristin
Portrait of Jamie

Both models having fun.
As you could see it was not really cold inside the studio, we could tried few interesting poses. However outside winter was really cold as usual at Ann Arbor, MI
Warehouse at Detroit II
Also at the meet up of the Flickr group: Strobist A2/DT, August 9th. I had the chance to made some pictures with Sonny. Changing from a woman to man model could be a little challenge for me. But it is good to practice. Here are some of his portraits.

Warehouse at Detroit
Last weekend, I had the opportunity of participated on meet up of the Flickr group: Strobist A2/DT. It was in a warehouse on Detroit. It was very interesting environment, the only bad thing was the temperature, unusual hot for this summer.
I shoot only with few models, Amber was one of them. Here are two pictures of her.
